Know where the sky is clear tonight, and secure your exclusive spot.

AuroraSpot shows northern lights operators where the sky is clear, and connects them to private spots at local landowners who get paid. Less wild parking in the villages, more value staying local.

Do you have a spot that sits empty all winter?

A driveway, farmyard, marina or community hall car park. Northern lights companies pay to park there. Agreed in advance, with rules of conduct and a toilet solution. You decide when the spot is available.

The problem

Three parties, same frustration

☁

Operators hunt blind

Guides spend valuable time every afternoon judging cloud cover, and often end up at the same few known points, with queues and crowds on good nights.

🚌

A bus with nowhere to park

Wild parking along narrow winter roads means conflict with neighbours, risk of fines and towing, and a poor experience for paying guests.

⌂

The spots sit empty

Private parking spots, farmyards, marinas and community halls near the best viewing points sit unused all through the dark season, with no simple, legal way to earn from them.

The solution

Two equal cores

The intelligence

Where should you drive tonight?

A living map ranking 34 places from Senja to Nordreisa by how good the aurora visibility actually is, hour by hour, refreshed every 15 minutes through the evening, with a recommended route.

The spots

Your group stands alone

Book the spot exclusively, your group completely alone, or share it with others if you prefer. You decide when you book. Not the pull-offs where everyone else parks; the landowner gets paid, wild parking disappears.

One without the other is half the product.

See it in action

Tonight's clear skies, live

This is how aurora operators see where the clear skies are tonight: which places have open sky and when, a recommended route toward the least cloudy spots, and where there's private parking available. Updated live through the evening.

☁ Clouds read in layers

Low clouds block the aurora, thin veil clouds don't. Ordinary forecasts don't tell them apart; we do.

↑ The northern view counts most

The aurora usually sits in the north. We measure the sky both overhead and 40 km to the north.

🅿 Never recommended without parking

A spot with a perfect sky but full parking is never recommended, and the route has distance sense.

◔ Verifiable

Every assessment is logged. Through the season we document how often the recommendation was right.

How it works

Simple for both sides

✦ For the aurora operator

1

Open tonight's map

See which places have the clearest sky tonight, and how it develops from 7 pm to 1 am.

2

Drive where it points

The recommendation weighs sky, driving distance and where there's actually a free spot.

3

Stand alone with your group

Book the spot exclusively for your group, or share with a few. Agreed in advance: no searching, no crowds, no fines, just your guests and the northern lights.

⌂ For the landowner

1

Register your spot

A driveway, farmyard or the association's parking, registration takes under two minutes.

2

You decide

You control when the spot is available. We handle the agreement, payment and insurance, and set rules for guests.

3

Earn through the dark season

Passive winter income from a spot that otherwise sits empty from September to April.

How payment works

Rent your spot for the night, simple as that.

Operators subscribe to the forecast and pay for parking access. Landowners get simple, fixed seasonal agreements. No hidden costs, just predictability for both sides.

The community

From conflict to income

Tourist buses parking wild are a real irritation in the villages around Tromsø. AuroraSpot formalises what already happens today, so traffic is steered to agreed spots, with rules of conduct, and the value ends up with the people who live there. Toilet facilities are agreed for each individual spot as part of the agreement.
